From Flat Sheet to Formed Floor Carpet

The SOKIM contact heating press is the heating stage of the carpet moulding line. A flat carpet or felt sheet enters straight, is heated evenly by direct platen contact, and comes out ready to take the exact shape of the floor mould.

Flat sheet loaded

Needle-punched carpet, felt, thinsulate or nonwoven sheet is placed on the heated platen — up to 3m × 2.2m bed size.

Contact heating up to 250°C

Both platens heat the sheet by direct contact for uniform core temperature — no scorching, no cold spots. PLC-controlled time and temperature per recipe.

Transfer to forming mould

The softened sheet moves to your forming press, where it takes the full floor-pan shape — tunnel, footwells and all — in one shot.

Double decker = 2× output

Two heating levels in one frame heat the next sheet while the first is forming. Double production in the same floor space.

What is a contact heating press used for in carpet moulding?
It heats a flat carpet or felt sheet by direct platen contact so the thermoplastic backing softens uniformly. The heated sheet is then transferred to a forming mould where it takes the shape of the car floor. Contact heating gives more uniform core temperature than ovens for heavy needle-punched carpets.
What materials can it heat?
Needle-punched and tufted automotive carpets with LDPE/thermoplastic backing, thermoplastic felt, resin felt, thinsulate, nonwoven acoustic packs and similar NVH materials.
Why double decker?
Two independent heating levels in one frame: one sheet heats while the previous one forms in your moulding press. You get roughly double the output from the same footprint and one operator.
